Unity 6.2 launches with integrated AI in beta and enhanced Android XR capabilities
Unity 6.2 has been released as the latest version of this popular cross-platform game engine, introducing new tools for creators. A central highlight is the Unity AI in beta, now natively integrated into the Unity Editor and fully production-supported in this release. Unity AI offers contextual help, automates repetitive workflows, generates placeholder assets, and assists in debugging errors. During the beta, all users have access to free, unlimited Unity Points, enabling extensive experimentation with AI-driven capabilities. Developer privacy is addressed with Unity AI’s data sharing set to off by default, giving users direct control over their project data.
Building on improved tooling, Unity 6.2 advances Android XR support: the Android XR package attains verified status, establishing a stable, production-quality foundation for building extended reality (XR) applications on Android. Notable feature additions include hand mesh support, dynamic refresh rate controls, visibility mesh occlusion, a new graph toolkit, mesh level of detail (LOD), world space user interface for the UI toolkit, enhanced developer data frameworks, and expanded diagnostics functionality.
Following these advancements, Unity 6.2’s release model guarantees support identical to Long-Term Support (LTS) editions. This ensures ongoing critical fixes and platform updates until the next version’s arrival.
