Portainer 2.33 LTS brings modernized UI, Helm enhancements, and experimental observability

Portainer has released version 2.33 LTS, building on enhancements made since the previous 2.32 STS release. The latest Long Term Support (LTS) version updates the interface with a modernized look and feel, first introduced in 2.32, making navigation and management more intuitive across supported container platforms, like Docker, Swarm, and Kubernetes.

In this release, the new experimental observability feature is now part of the LTS stream, allowing users to set up notifications for various environment conditions using different channels. For teams working with Kubernetes and Helm, Portainer 2.33 LTS adds a detailed Helm deployment view; selecting a Helm deployment in the applications list now opens a page rich with status and configuration details. Additionally, support for OCI-format Helm charts through OCI registries expands chart deployment options.

These enhancements are complemented by the introduction of a Namespace Operator role for Kubernetes, which grants operator permissions within specific namespaces rather than across entire clusters. Update and rollback workflows for Edge devices have been overhauled, simplifying remote fleet management.

Rounding out the release, Portainer 2.33 LTS adds updates to mutual Transport Layer Security (mTLS), Docker Compose code completion and validation, and Kerberos authentication for Active Directory. The release also includes performance improvements and a range of other enhancements and bug fixes.
