KDE Plasma 6.4.4 brings bug fixes and updates KWin and Discover
KDE developers have finally released Plasma 6.4.4, a bugfix update that addresses long-standing issues in components such as Plasma Desktop, KWin, Discover, and the Dr Konqi crash handler. Notably, KWin has improved color pipeline rendering by eliminating reliance on default EDID data, resulting in more accurate color representation. The update also enhances the stability of plugins like the Magnifier and Screencast, reducing crashes.
The new version of Plasma Desktop and Workspace focus on resolving drag-and-drop functionality on scrollable desktops and fixing issues with renaming symbolic links. Desktop icon hitboxes are now better aligned with their graphics, minimizing accidental selections or missed clicks. The Dr Konqi crash handler now generates more accurate diagnostic reports by prioritizing API errors from Bugzilla and offers increased protection against invalid CoreImage components.
The Discover software center no longer mislabels standard apps as outdated beta Flatpaks and adjusts its logic for proper remote insertion ordering. Accessibility improvements include a workaround for a QtQuick-based Tabbox crash and more precise modifier key events for screen readers. System Settings include output suppression in the Colors dialog and a scrollable tablet pen tab and X11 users benefit from refined display output handling by filtering disconnected screens.
