Home Assistant 2025.8 has been released with with new AI Task integration and faster TTS

Home Assistant 2025.8 has been released with a primary focus on artificial intelligence enhancements. The text-to-speech system now generates response audio before the complete response is finished, minimizing response lag, especially when using local AI models. Building on this, the new AI Task integration allows users to generate data using AI, including attaching files or camera feeds and querying what is happening.

The AI Task integration also introduces default entities, streamlining blueprint sharing by eliminating the need to specify an entity during data generation. When a default entity is set, Home Assistant displays new Suggest with AI buttons in relevant locations, simplifying access to AI-powered actions.

Alongside these changes, the Areas dashboard gains customization options. Users can now choose to display the first camera feed, an area image, or an icon within the area dashboard editor. The release also broadens device compatibility, adding integrations for OpenRouter, Ubiquiti UISP airOS, Uptime Kuma, and Volvo, with Bauknecht and Z-Box Hub available as new virtual integrations.

This update also brings further usability improvements: users can now control individual group members, benefit from enhanced time trigger functionality, and view a refined energy dashboard for improved monitoring, among others.
