Flameshot version 13.0.0 launches with Qt6 port and enhanced Wayland support
The Flameshot team has officially launched version 13.0.0, the first release of the screenshot utility after porting to the Qt6 toolkit. This update improves support for Linux users on Wayland by introducing a new grim-based screenshot adapter, enhancing compatibility with a wider range of wlroots-based compositors.
Key new features include a command-line interface for Windows, the ability to rotate and apply transparency to pinned images, and a new secure pixelation tool that redacts areas without using the original pixels. Users will also notice interactive dimension indicators during capture and an optional grid for precise annotations.
While the core application aims to stay lightweight, uploading images to Imgur is now disabled by default, as the uploader is considered a separate program. In terms of packaging, Snap support is discontinued for this release due to Ubuntu Gnome confinement issues, but Flatpak is available, with verification through Flathub. Other notable changes include native Apple Silicon (aarch64) builds for macOS and a new exit code for easier script integration.
