DaVinci Resolve 20.1 comes with Apple Immersive Video support for macOS users

Blackmagic Design has released DaVinci Resolve 20.1, a major update for macOS, adding support for Apple Immersive Video workflows, empowering users to create stunning immersive content with ease.

Filmmakers can now effortlessly edit, color grade, add visual effects, and mix Spatial Audio for Apple Immersive Video, particularly when captured using the new Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive camera. The system allows creators to edit and grade 3D immersive content using the same familiar tools from their 2D projects.

The update brings a new immersive video viewer that lets users pan, tilt, and roll clips on a 2D display, while also streaming video to Apple Vision Pro for editing.

Additional features include a new Edge Mask tool for the 3D palette for removing unwanted items at the frame edge and an updated spatial audio editor.

Unfortunately, these new features are currently exclusive to the paid DaVinci Resolve Studio, which costs $295.

The "Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive" (from the creator of DaVinci) full equipped is $30k, and the Apple Vision thingy about $3k, so it's just $300 more for the software. The camera is not 360° FoV though but about 80-90° which allows rotating the head a little, with a 8K definition per eye to reduce motion sickness. "Immersive" movies, pretty much like 3D cinema, doesn't please many people but it could certainly be an unique experience to try for few short documentaries.
