Calibre 8.8 improves Piper TTS and EPUB support for Japanese books
Calibre 8.8 features a complete rewrite of the Piper neural text to speech backend, eliminating the need for an external binary to enhance performance and robustness. EPUB conversion now supports the -epub-text-emphasis property, improving compatibility for Japanese language e-books.
The update also adds Kobo driver support for the latest Tolino firmware and delivers key bug fixes and news source enhancements.
