Apple Music 5.0 brings iOS 26 features to Android with Pinned Items and Lyrics Translation

Apple Music's latest 5.0 beta update brings several features from iOS 26 to Android, enhancing music access and discovery for users. The update introduces the ability to pin songs, albums, playlists, or artists directly to the Library for quicker access. These pinned items synchronize with the user's Apple account across different devices, although Android users may need to pin or unpin an item to refresh the entire set. Users can long-press to unpin items and set custom tap actions such as Play, Shuffle, or Go to Album. Additionally, automatic downloading of pinned items can be managed in the settings.

The update also focuses on improving the audio experience with new in-app lyrics translation and a pronunciation guide. This feature is presumably powered by Google Gemini AI on Android, similar to Apple Intelligence on iPhones, allowing users to better understand and sing along with tracks in various languages. Furthermore, the app now provides monthly and yearly replay statistics, offering listeners easy access to their music history and insights into their listening habits.

In terms of design, the user interface has been tweaked, with pill-shaped buttons replacing the former rounded rectangles. The controls for shuffle, repeat, and autoplay have been refreshed and are now located at the top of the queue and albums. However, the prominent Liquid Glass redesign and docked Now Playing controls from iOS 26 are not yet available on Android. Homescreen widgets remain unchanged, and the DJ-style AutoMix transitions have not been confirmed for Android users.
