Next.js 15.4 brings improved Turbopack compatibility, stability enhancements, and more
Next.js 15.4 has launched as the newest stable version of this React-based web development framework. This release marks a significant step for Turbopack, as Next.js now supports production builds with Turbopack passing all 8,298 integration tests and running Vercel's own website in production. These advances signal that Turbopack stability is nearing readiness for broader production use, with a public beta targeted for Next.js 16.
At the same time, the development team has introduced numerous stability and performance improvements for Turbopack under the hood. Building on this foundation, major work continues to advance features that enhance developer workflows. Notably, the team is focusing on developer experience improvements with Turbopack and bolstering the core App Router, including new capabilities like partial pre-rendering and the use cache hook. While these features are not enabled by default, groundwork is in place for experimental testing through configuration flags in the canary channel.
The release also brings several minor enhancements and bug fixes, rounding out an update that targets both stability and future-facing functionality.
