Discord launches Orbs as quest rewards for redeeming Nitro credits and shop items

Discord is rolling out a new rewards system for users of its desktop app, introducing Discord Orbs as a fresh currency for completing in-app quests. This change gives users additional motivation to participate in activities by attaching a tangible reward to each quest.

When users finish specific quests, they can earn Orbs and accumulate them over time. These Orbs are redeemable in the Discord shop, where a variety of items are available, including new Orb-themed profile customizations and 3-day Discord Nitro credits. Following this update, users can now access many shop features and rewards without the need for real-world payment, further removing barriers to customization and premium perks.

To obtain Orbs, players need to accept designated quests, complete the required tasks, and claim their rewards. While some may spend Orbs right away, Discord has confirmed that Orbs will remain attached to a user's account until they are used. This allows users to save up for higher-value rewards or wait until the items they want appear in the shop.
