Matrix 1.15 adds improved OIDC authentication, room summaries, and rich topic

Matrix 1.15 introduces support for OpenID Connect, offering improved and industry-standard authentication for users of this open decentralized communication protocol. This update strengthens security across participating Matrix clients by adopting a widely used and trusted framework for user verification.

Matrix clients now benefit from a new endpoint that provides richer information about rooms before a user decides to join. This feature improves user experience with invitations, knocks, and matrix.to links by allowing more informed participation and easier room discovery.

In addition, Matrix rooms now support a broader set of formatting options, enabling the use of bold text and lists for clearer communication. Following these formatting upgrades, all rooms can consistently utilize stable identifiers, ensuring user-friendly and reliable links to information in room topics and across the ecosystem. Some rooms already take advantage of these capabilities, and the update now extends them to every room on the network.

Matrix 1.15 also delivers several other enhancements and bug fixes, building on the stability and usability of the platform.
