Opera makes MiniPay available globally as a standalone mobile app for iOS & Android

Opera has announced that MiniPay, its stablecoin wallet, is now available as a standalone application for both iOS and Android. Previously embedded within the Opera Mini browser, MiniPay’s new app expands access to users worldwide and makes global transactions more accessible.

With the standalone MiniPay app, users can send, receive, and spend stablecoins across 52 countries, including Nigeria, Kenya, South Africa, the United States, France, Brazil, and Germany. This development enables individuals and businesses to transfer value internationally, leveraging digital assets for payments and remittances. The app supports well-known stablecoins such as USDT, USDC, and cUSD. These options help protect against the risks of local currency volatility in various markets.

Users can create and restore accounts using Google or iCloud credentials linked to their phone number, offering a streamlined signup and backup process. Following this, MiniPay allows users to move between local currencies and stablecoins at competitive rates, using familiar payment channels. The app’s integrated Mini Apps feature enables bill payments, mobile data and airtime purchases, and shopping with local merchants in select countries.
