OpenSUSE Tumbleweed's update brings Linux 6.14 kernel & post-quantum resistant OpenSSH
OpenSUSE has released the latest update of its Tumbleweed rolling-release Linux distribution, powered by the Linux 6.14.3 and 6.14.4 kernels. This updated kernels bring stability improvements, including fixes for several memory leaks as well as enhanced Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, SCSI, RAID, and sound driver support for more reliable hardware interaction.
A major security leap comes with OpenSSH 10.0p2, offering users faster, quantum-resistant key exchange along with improved session performance. Security is further reinforced by patches against vulnerabilities in Mozilla Firefox 137.0, PHP 8.4.5, OpenVPN 2.6.14, and Python 3.13.3.
Developers will benefit from GDB 16.3, which now offers smarter multithreaded debugging and improved tracing. For those focused on gaming or multimedia, the inclusion of Mesa 25.0.4 and FFmpeg 7.1.1 means better GPU stability and performance.
Audio reliability sees gains through the adoption of SBC 2.1 and updated kernel-firmware-sound, expanding device compatibility. Meanwhile, user experience is polished by major updates to KDE Gear, GTK4, iproute2, and rsyslog, all of which add refinements for daily desktop and server environments.
