Debian 12.11 “Bookworm” brings 81 bug fixes and 45 security updates to this Linux distro
Debian has announced the release of Debian 12.11, marking the eleventh update to its stable “Bookworm” series. This point release addresses a broad set of issues, delivering 81 bug fixes alongside 45 security updates. While system administrators will benefit from the general improvements, the release focuses on correcting problems in several widely used packages.
Among the security updates are patches for Firefox, Chromium, PHP 8.2, Thunderbird, and Perl. At the same time, the list of bug fixes touches tools such as Bash, OpenSSH, Docker, OpenVPN, Python, PostgreSQL, QEMU, and Redis, among others. These targeted updates are meant to enhance system reliability and security for both end users and IT professionals.
However, users should be aware of a known regression in Linux kernel version 6.1.137-1 included with Debian 12.11. Specifically, the “watchdog” and “w83977f_wdt” modules fail to load on AMD64 architectures. This issue may affect users who rely on these modules for hardware monitoring or system protection features.
It is important to note that Debian 12.11 is a point release. As such, it updates selected packages without being considered a new version of Debian 12.
