Cursor makes its Pro AI coding plan free for a year for verified students worldwide

Cursor is now granting all verified students a full year of free access to its Pro plan, which normally costs between $16 and $20 per month. This promotion only requires students to use a working school email address to sign up or log in, opening up advanced AI coding features to a wide student base. The Pro plan provides unlimited completions, 500 fast premium requests monthly, and unlimited slow premium requests at no extra cost during the free year.

For existing Cursor Pro subscribers who verify as students, an automatic refund will be processed for the remaining billing cycle, and the Pro discount will be applied without extra action. New student users should verify their status and enable Pro in their account settings to unlock the offer.

While not officially outlined in the announcement, numerous reports on X indicate the free Pro plan is available to students worldwide, including high school students, further broadening eligibility beyond just US-based college attendees.

The good new for students is that the more they'll use their free account, they'll more suck at coding, and so they'll stay longer student and be able to continue to use the tool for free. And maybe that what Cursor wants, to force all IT students to stop studying and prevent them to replace actual programmers.
