Tails 6.14.1 released with enhanced Tor Browser integration, software updates, & bug fixes

Tails has announced the release of version 6.14.1 of its portable operating system, designed to enhance protection against surveillance and censorship. This update significantly improves the confinement technology used to safeguard files from security vulnerabilities within the Tor Browser. Users can now safely access any folder in their Home folder or Persistent Storage via the Tor Browser, expanding beyond the previous limitation to specific folders. This enhancement is achieved through the integration of XDG Desktop Portals of Flatpak, allowing Tails to relax AppArmor confinement without sacrificing security, while also addressing usability and accessibility issues.

The update also includes software updates such as Tor Browser 14.0.9 and Tor client 0.4.8.16. Additional fixes in this release address the Welcome Screen freezing issue after unlocking Persistent Storage, improve visibility with a clearer border on the Kleopatra window against white backgrounds, and resolve errors when closing the upgrade check from the About Tails window.
