OpenSUSE monthly update brings GNOME 48, KDE Plasma 6.3, parallel package downloads & more

OpenSUSE's latest monthly update introduces significant enhancements and updated software packages. The release features the debut of GNOME 48, which brings a modernized user interface, performance improvements, and new features such as digital wellbeing tools and HDR support. KDE Plasma 6.3.3 update focuses on refining fractional scaling, display handling, and usability.

The update also includes Mesa 25.0.1, which adds ray tracing support for Intel Arc GPUs, while Emacs 30.1 improves org-protocol handling, security, and completion features. Additional package updates include PipeWire 1.4.1, libvirt 11.1.0, GStreamer 1.26.0, PHP 8.3.19, systemd 257.4, GIMP 3.0.2, and Git 2.49.

Tumbleweed users will benefit from experimental support for parallel package downloads and a new media backend with Zypper 1.14.87 and libzypp 17.36.4, significantly reducing package fetch times.
