WordPress enhances local development tool Studio with custom domains & HTTPS support

WordPress has released an update to Studio, its free and open source software for local WordPress development. The new version, 1.3.9, introduces support for custom domains and HTTPS (SSL), allowing developers to replicate production environments more accurately.

Previously, local WordPress sites in Studio were accessed via localhost with port numbers, which could limit testing capabilities, especially for plugins and themes requiring specific domain names or HTTPS. The new features enable developers to assign custom domain names to their local sites, test features dependent on these domains, and develop with SSL/HTTPS enabled.

Studio's implementation of these features is designed to be seamless, with the software managing most technical aspects in the background.
