Telegram introduces Star Messages, cheaper user verification, Chromecast support, and more

Telegram has introduced a new update that enhances privacy controls for content creators and public figures while providing monetization opportunities. Users receiving a high volume of messages can now impose a fee for incoming messages from non-contacts, applicable to group chats and channel discussions. This feature allows group owners to monetize their communities and earn Telegram Stars from meaningful interactions, with customizable settings and instant refunds available.

Additionally, when receiving a message from someone outside your contacts for the first time, a detailed info page is displayed to help identify scams and verify identities. Users can also use Telegram Stars to gift premium perks to others without incurring extra costs. Those earning Stars through Star Messages can withdraw them via Fragment for valuable rewards.

The update further allows users to pin up to six gifts on their profile and gifts tab. Android users gain the ability to cast videos directly to Chromecast devices. Moreover, Telegram's verification platform now includes a feature where developers can set a maximum delivery time for codes, with automatic refunds if codes are not delivered within the specified timeframe.
