Calibre 8.0 released with enhanced Kobo support, EPUB to KEPUB conversion, and much more
Calibre has unveiled version 8.0 of its ebook management software, introducing a range of new features and improvements. Notably, the update enhances support for Kobo devices, enabling native editing, viewing, and conversion of KEPUB files. The software also facilitates automatic conversion from EPUB to KEPUB when transferring books to Kobo devices.
A new feature allows Calibre to connect to folders as if they were USBMS-based devices, particularly beneficial for Chromebook users where USB devices appear as folders. The update also enhances autocompletion for hierarchical data fields and enables the movement of multiple selected items in the table of contents.
For macOS users, the Calibre application icons now feature a white frame, aligning with Apple's current icon style guidelines. The update includes support for new firmware on Tolino devices and introduces an option to suppress author search links in book details. Additionally, version 8.0 incorporates various minor enhancements, improved news sources, and bug fixes.
