Discord introduces a feature that lets you quietly ignore users without them knowing

To celebrate Safer Internet Day 2025, Discord has introduced a new feature aimed at creating a safer online environment, particularly for teens. This new feature is called Ignore, and is designed to help users manage social boundaries more subtly. Unlike blocking, which can feel confrontational, Ignore allows users to distance themselves from specific individuals without alerting them. This feature is particularly beneficial for teens who prefer to avoid interactions discreetly.

When a user opts to ignore someone, all new messages, direct messages, server notifications, profiles, and activities from that person will be hidden. The Ignore function can be accessed in the same locations where blocking is available, and users can manage their ignore list as needed. While this new tool aim to enhance online interaction management, Discord emphasizes the importance of remaining vigilant against potential online threats, especially for young users.
