Sigil & PageEdit 2.7.0 released with Qt 6.9.3, dynamic automation menu, UI tweaks and more
Sigil, the open source EPUB editor, and its companion app PageEdit, have both advanced to version 2.7.0. In this release, both applications now leverage Qt 6.9.3 with supplementary patches. Sigil has also upgraded its Perl Compatible Regular Expressions (PCRE2) library to version 10.46.
Alongside these core updates, WebProfileMgr has been updated to use QWebEngneProfileBuilder, improving disk cache setup. For workflow enhancements, tool buttons like “Heading Change” and “Case Change” now remember the last used action. Windows users benefit from a dedicated manifest file that ensures proper “open-with” functionality.
New user-facing features include a dynamic automation menu, which replaces the previous toolbar and can be hidden based on preference. Sigil’s file menu now tracks up to nine of the most recent files for easier access. The metadata editor supports a context menu for quick navigation and handles right and left arrow key navigation as expected. Language code selection is now customizable via the SIGIL_ONLY_USE_LANGCODES environment variable.
Further extending automation, two new tools allow users to run saved searches conditionally, depending on the outcome of previous searches. These improvements are rounded out by several bug fixes.
