Meta acquires Singapore-based startup Manus to accelerate autonomous AI agent development
Meta has announced the acquisition of Manus, a Singapore-based company that develops general-purpose, autonomous artificial intelligence agents. These AI agents are capable of handling a range of complex tasks, including market research, coding, and data analysis. The move signals Meta’s intent to strengthen its position in scalable, autonomous AI technology.
Following the acquisition, both Manus’s team and headquarters will remain in Singapore. Customers can expect uninterrupted service, as Manus will continue to offer its subscription-based product through its existing app and website. While operational aspects remain unchanged, Manus is positioned to act as an execution layer for advanced AI. This means it will help convert new AI capabilities into scalable and reliable end-to-end systems that can address real-world business tasks.
Building on this strategic alignment, Manus aims to leverage Meta’s platforms to broaden its reach, with ambitions to serve millions of businesses and billions of users globally. According to Manus CEO Xiao Hong, the acquisition offers a foundation for sustainable growth and continued product development, without altering the company's core operations or decision-making processes.

Why not just automate things people actually don't enjoy, I might like coding my stuff with AI if I had some really good control over the results?
