Google will discontinue its dark web monitoring tool in February 2026, after barely a year
Google has announced that it will discontinue its dark web report feature, which scanned the dark web for users' personal information. Scans for new dark web breaches are set to end on January 15, 2026. The entire dark web report will become unavailable on February 16, 2026. Following this date, all data associated with the dark web report will be deleted. Users also have the option to manually delete their data or profile ahead of the cutoff, but should note that deleting a profile means losing access to the dark web report.
While the report delivered general information about personal data exposures on the dark web, feedback indicated that it failed to provide actionable steps for users to take after being alerted. In response to this feedback, Google plans to shift its resources toward building tools that give clearer, actionable guidance for protecting personal information online. This change reflects an updated focus on providing users with more practical support and security features as the dark web report sunsets.
Google recommends to use tools like Security Checkup, Password Checkup, and Results about you to find out and manage personal information about yourself online.

Pfft. I'm more concerned about Google or Micro$oft having my personal information than it being on "the dark web".
