BookStack 25.12 adds user mentions in comments, content URL history system, and much more
BookStack 25.12 arrives as the latest release of the self-hosted, open source platform for knowledge management. This version introduces user mentioning within comments, enabling users to highlight others with @username tags. When mentioned, users receive email notifications containing both a direct link and the relevant comment content.
Building on content management enhancements, BookStack now provides a purpose-built tracking system to monitor changes across all content types. This ensures reliable redirects from outdated links to their current counterparts. Additionally, links between items that are duplicated in copy operations are automatically updated to reference the new versions, reducing the need for manual link maintenance.
With this update, the settings area now includes a renamed “Lists & Sorting” section. This section expands configuration options, letting administrators control the number of items displayed per page on shelves, books, and search result screens. For developers, BookStack 25.12 debuts a JavaScript-based API for the new WYSIWYG editor, supporting core actions such as inserting toolbar buttons and content.
Rounding out the update, users will see improvements to the new WYSIWYG editor, enhancements to the system CLI, updated CSS handling for both light and dark modes, and refreshed translations.
