Amazon adds “Ask this Book” to the Kindle iOS app for interactive and spoiler-free Q&A

Amazon is rolling out Ask this Book, a feature designed to support U.S. readers using the Kindle app on iOS. This new tool lets users highlight any passage in an eligible book and ask direct questions about its content without leaving the page. Ask this Book offers immediate, contextual responses about plot events, character connections, and key themes while making sure to avoid spoilers by only drawing from the content up to the reader’s current position.

While this initial release covers thousands of best-selling English-language Kindle books, users can expect expanded compatibility in the future. Amazon has announced support for Kindle devices and Android will arrive next year, building on the current iOS-only availability.

Unlike standard search functions, Ask this Book functions as a personalized recap tool, similar to a “Previously on…” segment in television, helping readers maintain immersion and clarity as they progress through a novel. All responses are served within the reading interface to prevent interruptions, focusing on enhancing the reading flow.
