Wine 10.20 released with VKD3D 1.18, improved reparse points & Common Controls refactoring

Wine 10.20 is now available, further enabling users to run Windows applications on Linux, macOS, and BSD systems. This version focuses on both compatibility and user experience improvements across multiple areas.

A key enhancement in Wine 10.20 is the upgrade of VKD3D, the component translating Direct3D 12 calls to the Vulkan graphics API, which has now been updated to version 1.18. Alongside this, Wine users benefit from expanded support for reparse points, improving compatibility with complex Windows filesystem features.

Following ongoing interface work, the Common Controls component has received additional refactoring after the version 5 and version 6 split, which enhances maintainability and compatibility for various user interface elements. Building on these enhancements, a progress dialog has been added to the document scanning workflow, providing users with visual feedback during scanning processes.

In addition to core changes, Wine 10.20 delivers 31 bug fixes targeting both games and productivity software. These fixes improve stability and compatibility with titles like Civilization, StarCraft, Mega Man X DiVE, as well as programs such as QuarkXPress 2024, PlayOnline Viewer, and TomTom MyDrive Connect.
