Traefik Proxy 3.6 brings multi-layer routing, Knative integration, and Gateway API v1.4

Traefik Proxy 3.6, code-named “Ramequin”, is now available as the latest release of the open source, cloud-native application proxy. While prior versions focused on standard routing techniques, this update introduces multi-layer routing, which lets administrators make routing decisions using information not present in the original request. This feature simplifies configuration by removing the need for convoluted routing workarounds.

Alongside this, Traefik gains Knative provider support in version 3.6. This advance positions Traefik as the only proxy to seamlessly support cloud-native container workloads, traditional virtual machines, and serverless environments. These shifts expand the spectrum of infrastructure Traefik can address, catering to more complex workload requirements.

Building on these foundation changes, the release now fully supports Gateway API v1.4, incorporating production-ready features such as BackendTLSPolicy and SupportedFeatures, which move from experimental to the standard channel. These changes will benefit teams using Kubernetes networking in enterprise settings.

Further improvements include evolved health checks, new load balancing strategies, provider module updates, performance and security enhancements, greater observability options, and an improved user and developer experience. These enhancements collectively boost both deployment security and operational ease.
