Roblox to require users to perform age checks to access chat features starting in January
Roblox is making age checks mandatory to unlock chat and access age-appropriate experiences, introducing facial age estimation or ID verification as part of this process. This new policy limits communication to users within similar age groups, unless individuals are added as trusted connections. While users may voluntarily complete facial age estimation now, Roblox will begin enforcing age checks in early December for markets like Australia, New Zealand, and the Netherlands, expanding to the rest of the world in January where chat is available.
To safeguard privacy, all images and videos used in facial age estimation are deleted immediately after processing. Though the procedure is optional, chat functions and other communication features will only be accessible to users who complete an age check. Parents remain able to manage their child’s linked account, including editing birthdates after verification.
In further efforts to protect young users, chat in experiences defaults to off for those under nine, with parental consent required to enable it. Chat outside of experiences remains restricted for users under 13. Looking ahead, Roblox will also require age checks for accessing social media links on profiles, communities, and experience detail pages starting early next year.

Quite a homophobic change ngl
This is not the perfect way but I am glad apps that are made for children, know try to protect them for certain actions instead of just blocking the whole internet for everyone like the UK right now...
Oh! Chat Control is here in
Roblox as well now. But whose control? He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named?
Another proof why free software has become important: the government may mandate a proprietary Big Brother (backdoor/spyware) for the "safety" (sic) of its citizens, often without the citizens' consent. Let's start with the most notorious: Microsoft and the NSA (1, 2, 3.) Back in February, the UK mandated a backdoor to https://alternativeto.net/software/icloud/news/ once, and again last month (1, 2.)
Steam also fell into this same Chat Control scheme (1, 2, 3.) And now, this. They wanted control, not accountability.
Do not trust any "privacy" claims (including Roblox here) if you are denied access to its source code.
Discord did a Chat Control before and it had a data breach afterwards. Another reason why to never trust binaries and always verify the source code (1, 2, 3.) Stallman was right once, and will always be right about proprietary malware.
