Proton introduces Proton Pass CLI in beta for secure vault management from the terminal

Proton has introduced a command-line interface (CLI) for its Proton Pass password manager, allowing users to securely retrieve secrets and items directly within scripts, deployment processes, and continuous integration & continuous delivery setups. This CLI addresses scenarios where a graphical interface is not feasible, such as on servers or in CI/CD pipelines.

While maintaining Proton’s end-to-end encryption and privacy standards, the Proton Pass CLI lets users work directly from the terminal to automate tasks, retrieve vault data, and manage both items and permissions. These capabilities support IT professionals, developers, and system administrators who require secure but flexible workflows without leaving terminal environments.

The CLI is currently in beta for Visionary-tier Proton Pass customers, and Proton plans to make it more widely available across paid plans in the future. For teams operating in environments where graphical UIs are unavailable, this update unlocks a practical and secure means to manage passwords and automate credential retrieval.
