iodéOS 7 beta launches with Android 16 base, enhanced battery life, and updated apps
iodéOS 7 beta has arrived, introducing a new version for this Android operating system release that strips out Google trackers to prioritize user privacy. The update is built on Android 16 and is currently available for 34 devices, with additional hardware support planned for the near future. Running atop LineageOS 23 and Android 16 QPR0, this version aims to deliver boosts in performance, enhanced privacy, and robust security to users seeking open-source alternatives.
Alongside the transition to a modern Android foundation, iodéOS 7 implements more intelligent resource scheduling and background-app management. These enhancements help extend battery life, with no need for user intervention or new habits. Accessibility gains are also notable in this release. Gesture navigation in TalkBack is now more natural, and expanded hearing-aid integration simplifies audio routing directly from the device.
Following these system-level upgrades, key preinstalled apps have received major improvements. The Aperture camera app has been entirely rebuilt, supporting both RAW and JPEG Ultra HDR modes for greater photographic control and image quality. The default Twelve audio player now offers MIDI playback support, quicker media library scans, and enhanced suggestions and management for playlists and favorites.
