eXo Platform 7.1 launches with new management tools and enhanced team collaboration
eXo Platform 7.1 launches as the latest version of this open-source digital workplace suite, building on the technical overhaul introduced in version 7.0. This update focuses on delivering a more intuitive, people-centric experience with notable changes to user interface and day-to-day workflows.
A major highlight is the redesigned management system, which enables both thumbnail and tree views, drag-and-drop folder import, offline capabilities, and network drive connection. These improvements support uninterrupted productivity, regardless of location. Alongside these upgrades, users benefit from a customizable personal workspace, unified search, an enhanced app center, and new shortcuts designed to streamline routine actions and save time.
Following this, team communication capabilities are expanded through Matrix-based chat integration. Users now have access to reactions, threaded message replies, voice messaging, push and sound notifications, and a full-screen mode to improve interactive collaboration. The update also adds forum-style feeds, decentralized engagement campaigns, and quest gadgets that help build team motivation and cohesion.
From a technical standpoint, eXo 7.1 adopts updated software components, including JDK 21, Tomcat 10, Spring 6, Spring Boot 3.1, ElasticSearch 8.14.3, and OnlyOffice 9.1 to ensure better stability and compatibility. Administrators now have new options for platform customization, advanced user management, and no-code configuration of authentication pages for heightened control.
