Amazon Prime Video launches AI-driven video recaps for select original series

Amazon has introduced AI-powered video recaps as a new feature on its Prime Video streaming platform. This latest tool uses artificial intelligence to pinpoint a show’s most important plot points, then combines them with synchronized voice narration, dialogue snippets, and music to create a comprehensive visual summary that helps viewers prepare for new seasons.

These video recaps expand on Prime Video’s 2024 rollout of X-Ray Recaps, which offers spoiler-free text summaries generated by AI. X-Ray Recaps highlight cliffhangers and character-focused developments for easier recall, while the new video recaps provide an immersive, multimedia alternative.

When viewers navigate to the next season of a supported series, they will see a recap button on the show’s detail page. Selecting this button lets users choose between available recap formats, such as the new video recaps or the existing text-based X-Ray Recaps.

At launch, video recaps are available in beta for select English-language Prime Original series in the United States. Supported titles include Fallout, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan, Upload, Bosch, and The Rig.
