AlmaLinux 9.7 debuts with performance enhancements, updated dev tools & improved security

AlmaLinux 9.7, code-named “Moss Jungle Cat”, is now generally available as the latest stable release of this enterprise-focused Linux distribution. It continues AlmaLinux’s commitment to binary compatibility with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), making it a direct alternative for users requiring stability and long-term viability.

This release introduces performance optimizations across core components. Development environments have been refreshed with new compiler toolsets and updated module streams. Security improvements highlight updated SELinux policies and revamped debugging and networking tools. These enhancements target a broad range of users from developers to administrators seeking up-to-date, stable foundations.

Building on these updates, container and virtualization support receives a boost through the latest versions of Podman and Buildah.
