Jellyfin 0.19 for Android TV brings voice search, inactivity popup & enhanced music player

Jellyfin 0.19 for Android TV has been released, delivering a redesigned search interface that now includes voice search, making content discovery quicker and more convenient. Addressing a popular user request, this version introduces a configurable inactivity popup: when enabled, users will be asked if they're still watching after a set time or episode count, reducing the risk of entire shows being marked as watched during periods of inactivity.

Building on playback improvements, the video player now detects device high dynamic range (HDR) capabilities more accurately, leading to better transcoding or direct play performance. Additionally, users benefit from native support for VobSub and DVDSub subtitle formats, which previously required transcoding.

To assist with resolving playback issues, a new troubleshooting feature enhances detection algorithms and enables users to find solutions more easily. Music playback sees usability gains as users can now fast-forward, rewind, or manually seek within their tracks. Following these changes, the photo viewer has been visually updated and now shows file and album names, offering a preview of possible future upgrades to the video player interface.

Users of older devices should note that Jellyfin 0.19.x will be the final series to support Android 5 and 5.1 due to changes in vendor requirements.
