Accrescent 0.27 launches with new app store API, background download, UI upgrades and more
Accrescent 0.27 delivers its most substantial update yet, featuring a new, stable app store API for fetching app information. This core change aims to enhance overall reliability and usability, especially for users focused on security and privacy.
Building on the API migration, repository metadata is now updated atomically, increasing data integrity for users who rely on precise verification. App downloads and installations can now continue reliably in the background, even if the Accrescent app is closed, improving installation success rates and convenience. Following these workflow enhancements, the app no longer attempts to install incompatible applications and avoids updating apps not originally installed by Accrescent, reducing unnecessary errors and conflicts.
Users will also notice reduced storage requirements for app installations, benefiting those with limited device resources. Visual improvements include a new loading indicator for app installations, an “Unarchive” button for archived listings, and support for fetching app listings in the user's preferred language. Additional refinements bring better user interface performance via Compose best practices, localized download progress percentages, and the removal of the need for an idle device to run updates. Furthermore, app installs will now wait for network availability before proceeding.
