Truecaller's latest update brings real-time caller ID to iPhone users
Truecaller, known for its caller ID and call blocking capabilities, has released a significant update for iOS users, addressing a long-standing limitation. Previously, iPhone users lacked real-time caller information, a feature Android users have had access to. This update, facilitated by Apple's introduction of Live Caller ID Lookup in iOS 18, enables third-party caller ID apps like Truecaller to obtain caller information directly from their servers.
Before iOS 18, Truecaller's iOS functionality was restricted to a locally stored dictionary of phone numbers, limiting its effectiveness. With the new update, iOS users can now receive real-time caller information, although there may still be occasional misses. The interface has also been enhanced, displaying the caller's name prominently in bold above the number. Truecaller is further developing the feature to include support for displaying images in the caller ID for iOS users.
