Terminal emulator Ghostty 1.1.0 brings server-side decorations, IME enhancements, and more
Ghostty, a terminal emulator known for its speed and platform-native UI, has released version 1.1.0, focusing on critical bug fixes and enhancements. This update addresses feedback from the initial 1.0 release, with significant changes for Linux users. Previously relying on client-side decorations (CSD), Ghostty now supports server-side decorations (SSD) for compatible compositors, improving its native appearance across various desktop environments.
The update also brings Input Method Editor (IME) enhancements for macOS and Linux, refining text input handling. A new performable: prefix for keybinds ensures inputs are only consumed if the action is executed. On macOS, alpha blending has been improved, enhancing visual consistency with semi-transparent elements. The quick terminal feature now integrates better with native full-screen windows and other macOS elements. This update also includes numerous other improvements and bug fixes.
