Sparky Linux 7.6 released with updated Linux kernels, software, and desktop environments

Sparky Linux has announced the release of version 7.6, based on Debian 12 “Bookworm”. This update is powered by the Linux kernel 6.1.119 LTS, with additional kernels including Linux 6.12.8, 6.6.69 LTS, and 5.15.175 LTS available in the Sparky repositories, along with Linux kernel ARM 6.6.62 LTS.

The release includes updates to various software and desktop environments, including LibreOffice 7.4.7, with a newer version 24.8.4 accessible via Debian backports, and KDE Plasma 5.27.5. Other desktop environments such as LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18, and Openbox 3.6.1 have also been updated. Firefox 128.5.0 ESR is included, with version 133.0.3 available in the Sparky repositories, alongside Thunderbird 128.5.0.

Sparky 7.6 “Orion Belt” supports multiple architectures, including AMD64, i386, ARMHF, and ARM64. However, not all desktop environments are available across all architectures. Further details and release notes can be found in the official announcement on the Sparky Linux website.
