Shotcut 25.01 brings playlist bins, video filters and other improvements for video editing
Shotcut has released version 25.01 of its open-source video editor, introducing new features and improvements aimed at enhancing user experience. This update introduces a new Bins tab for playlists, along with media type and text search, to help users organize clips more efficiently. A new “View” “Files” panel provides a comprehensive overview of imported files, and the “Show in Files” function in Properties and Jobs assists in locating media on disk.
New video filters, including HSL Primaries, HSL Range, and Gradient Map, have been added. The default behavior for the “Pause After Seek” setting now reverts to pausing automatically. Audio editing sees improvements with a new Type parameter for Fade In and Fade Out audio filters. Windows ARM CPU users gain hardware encoding support with h264_mf and hevc_mf codecs.
The update also enhances tolerance for inconsistent video modes in MLT XML clips and sub-projects. Support for the Irish language is now available, and the slideshow generation from playlists has been refined for easier montage creation. Numerous bug fixes have also been implemented, contributing to the software's improved stability and functionality.
