Open source video player Haruna 1.3 released with new defaults, enhancements and bug fixes
KDE has rolled out version 1.3 of Haruna, an open-source video player utilizing Qt/QML and libmpv. Notable changes include a shift in default mouse button actions: left-click now toggles play/pause, while right-click opens the context menu. Users can modify these actions in the settings under the mouse page.
The Start playing setting is now enabled by default, determining whether playback resumes or pauses when reopening a file. Additional features include options to launch the app in full-screen mode and control subtitle auto-selection.
Dragging the seek/progress bar now updates both the main view and the seekbar preview. The update reduces the minimum window size and replaces the hardware decoding checkbox with a dropdown menu option. New context menu entries allow non-local URLs to open in a browser or be removed from the playlist.
Haruna 1.3 also enhances scrolling performance for playlists, shortcuts, and the seekbar's chapters menu, along with improvements to menubar animation and other minor enhancements and bug fixes.
Comments
Haruna is a great alternative to stock MPV thanks to many interface improvement but keep the same good performances as MPV. VLC is still a little lighter on resources though.
Is VLC lighter than mpv ?
