Forgejo 10.0 launches with enhanced features, improved security, and end of Gitea support

Forgejo, a self-hosted platform for code hosting and project collaboration, has launched version 10.0. This update introduces several enhancements, including a revamped repository dialog and the ability to modify Git notes via both the API and UI. Users can now create Markdown tables with a new button and access a consolidated view of all issues and pull requests. Additionally, user mentions in comments and commit messages are now highlighted for better visibility.

The update also improves the Quote reply feature, allowing users to quote selected portions of comments with preserved Markdown syntax. A significant change in this release is the switch from the secret module to the keying module for storing TOTP secrets, which offers improved security practices.

With the release of Forgejo 10.0, version 9 reaches its end of life, while the LTS series v7 remains supported until July 16, 2025. Support for Forgejo v10.0 will continue until April 16, 2025, with the anticipated release of Forgejo v11.0. Notably, Forgejo v10.0 is the final version to support transparent upgrades from Gitea v1.22 or lower, as future versions will not accommodate upgrades from Gitea v1.23 or above.
