Firefox 134 released with touchpad hold gestures, HEVC video acceleration, and much more

Mozilla has released version 134 of Firefox, its open-source web browser. Notable updates include support for touchpad hold gestures on Linux, allowing users to interrupt kinetic scrolling with two fingers. Windows users can now enjoy hardware-accelerated playback of HEVC video content. Ecosia's search engine availability has been expanded across multiple European regions and languages.

Firefox 134 aligns more closely with the model HTML specification for transient user activation, resulting in less aggressive popup blocking. A new tab layout is being introduced in the US and Canada, reorganizing elements like the logo and weather widget to emphasize web search, shortcuts, and recommended stories.

For developers, the update enhances web extension debugging by converting debugger log-point values into profiler markers. The Network panel now provides details about Early Hints, including a visual indicator for the 103 HTTP status code. Additional minor enhancements and bug fixes are also included in this release.
