WordPress temporarily lifts WP Engine block amid legal dispute, but only until tomorrow

In the ongoing conflict between WordPress and WP Engine, Automattic CEO Matt Mullenweg has announced the temporary lifting of blocks that prevented WP Engine servers from accessing WordPress.org resources. This decision will remain effective until tomorrow, October 1, 00:00 UTC. The restrictions had impacted access to themes, plugins, translations, critical updates, and more, frustrating many WP Engine customers.

Initially, WP Engine had issued a report to explain the situation to its users, followed by an update detailing interim solutions and workarounds for maintaining plugin and theme updates. Mullenweg expressed his regret over the inconvenience caused to WP Engine customers and criticized WP Engine's commercial decisions. He hopes the temporary lift will allow WP Engine to set up their own mirrors of WordPress.org’s free resources.
