qBittorrent 5.0 released with systemd power management support and many other enhancements
qBittorrent has released version 5.0 of its free and reliable P2P BitTorrent client, built on libtorrent 1.2.19 / 2.0.11, Qt 6.7.3, and Boost 1.86. This update introduces several platform-specific features: Linux now supports systemd power management, macOS users can display download/upload speeds in the dock icon, and Windows users can set qBittorrent as a default program.
Key features in this release include the ability to create .torrent files with larger piece sizes, improved handling of tracker entries, and a separate filter item for tracker errors. Users can also remove trackers from the tracker filter widget menu and utilize the new Reannounce In column. Additional enhancements include exposing DHT bootstrap nodes settings, support for Mark-of-the-Web, and the option to keep unwanted files in a separate folder.
Other notable features include a button for sending test emails, the ability for torrents to override default share limit actions, and subcategories implicitly following parent category options. The update also introduces a popularity metric, the ability to pause/resume the entire BitTorrent session, and an option to set a BitTorrent session shutdown timeout. qBittorrent 5.0 also includes numerous user interface, search, API, and RSS improvements, along with various bug fixes.
