FreeBSD 13.4 has been released with driver enhancements, key software updates, and more

FreeBSD has rolled out version 13.4, the latest point release in the FreeBSD 13 stable series, catering to users who haven't transitioned to FreeBSD 14. This update accumulates numerous changes over recent months, including critical security fixes across various components and notable program updates. Key software updates include SQLite 3.46.0, OpenSSH 9.7p1, LLVM and Clang compiler 18.1.5, bc 6.7.6, atf 0.22, and libarchive 3.7.4, among others.

The libcapsicum library has been optimized to cache more time zone information, reducing tzset calls and enhancing performance. On the kernel side, updates include improvements to Intel IRDMA and ICE drivers, support for SIM7600G in the U3G driver, and stability fixes for wireless drivers, particularly those using the Linux KPI.

Additionally, FreeBSD 13.4 features numerous enhancements to the network stack, including performance boosts and bug fixes, and support for AMD Ryzen 7 “Phoenix” processors, among other enhancements and bug fixes.
