Google shuts down AdSense accounts in Russia, impacting Youtubers and content creators
Google announced it’s shutting down all Google AdSense accounts in Russia, halting payments to users of its advertising service in the country. This move, affecting AdSense, AdMob, and Ad Manager accounts, will impact websites and content creators, including YouTubers, from monetizing their posts. The decision is part of Google's response to Russia's conflict with Ukraine, following earlier actions like pausing monetization of state-funded media and stopping ads in Russia.
The shutdown will significantly affect the income of Russian creators, with Russia being second only to the US in YouTube web traffic, indicating substantial revenue losses for Russia-based YouTubers. Final payouts will be made this month, with payments disbursed between August 21 and 26. Payments to Russia-based AdSense accounts monetizing traffic outside of Russia will also cease, leading to account deactivations by August 2024. This decision may also be influenced by a new Russian law banning advertising on online sources published by a "foreign agent," which includes anti-Kremlin figures and media.

Pretty sure it is illegal to refuse service to someone based on their nationality yet all these big tech companies get away with it because they have a lot of money and try to frame it as anything but xenophobia.
That is kinda ridicilously late... da heck?!?
It's not a "conflict," it's war... Unless you also want to call what happened in 1939 a conflict
You don't seem to understand the real reason for all this. Since the beginning of August Russia artificially slows down Youtube so that people switch to Russian video hosting (Rutube, VK video), and because of this people start using VPN, and see ads (usually European advertisers), but since almost all advertisers have left Russia users do not click on the ads and bloggers get money for advertising from "European" views, while Google itself does not get anything, as they do not interact with ads.(Evidence of artificial slowdown - https://support.google.com/youtube/community-guide/286374160/%D0%9E-%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%BC%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%BB%D0%B5%D0%BD%D0%B8%D0%B8-%D0%B8-%D0%B1%D0%BB%D0%BE%D0%BA%D0%B8%D1%80%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BA%D0%B5-youtube-%D0%BD%D0%B0-%D1%82%D0%B5%D1%80%D1%80%D0%B8%D1%82%D0%BE%D1%80%D0%B8%D0%B8-%D0%A0%D0%BE%D1%81%D1%81%D0%B8%D0%B8?hl=en )
Russian users seeing ads they're not supposed see and russian adsense members getting their accounts closed seem like two separate matters. To me so far it looks more like youtube just doesn't want russian users to recieve payments from outside of russia (and inside russia there's already no youtube advertisement allowed AFAIR)
