Traefik Proxy 3.1 released with enhanced WASM and Kubernetes Gateway API integrations
Traefik has announced the release of version 3.1 of its cloud-native application proxy, designed to simplify and automate microservices discovery, routing, and load balancing. This update follows the Traefik 3.0 release, which introduced key features like WebAssembly (WASM), Open Telemetry, and Kubernetes Gateway API support.
Version 3.1 builds on these enhancements, particularly refining WASM and Gateway API integrations. With Gateway API emerging as a new standard for resource exposure within Kubernetes clusters, Traefik 3.1’s Kubernetes Gateway API is now production-ready.
The update also includes improved status management, route priority updates, and the new ReferenceGrant feature, allowing users to declare a Gateway in Traefik that serves a TLS certificate stored in a secret from another namespace or an HTTPRoute targeting a service in a different namespace. Additionally, Traefik Proxy 3.1 offers optional extended features for GatewayAPI, support for TCPRoute and TLSRoute, and enhanced WASM plugins, among other improvements.
