Proton unveils Scribe, a privacy-focused AI writing assistant for secure email composition

Proton has unveiled Proton Scribe, a privacy-first writing assistant integrated into Proton Mail. This new feature aims to streamline email composition while safeguarding sensitive data. Users can utilize the Shorten or Proofread options to eliminate typos and grammatical errors, and the Formalize option to enhance email tone for formal communications. Designed with privacy in mind, Proton Scribe operates locally, ensuring data never leaves the device.

Available to Mail Essentials, Mail Professional, and Proton Business Suite plan users for $2.99 per user monthly, Scribe can be accessed by clicking the pencil icon in the email composer. Visionary and Lifetime subscribers also receive Scribe at no additional cost. Notably, Scribe does not train on inbox data due to Proton Mail’s zero-access encryption and relies on open-source code and models, allowing for independent security and privacy audits.

Proton is amazing. How does anyone even uses a non private service for email?

I'm disappointed that this is only on "Business" accounts, but hoping they roll this out for everyone else soon.
