Shotcut 24.06 released with Windows ARM support, SVT-AV1 encoder, and AVIF image support

Shotcut has launched version 24.06 of its free and open-source video editor. This update introduces a native build for Windows on ARM64 CPUs, currently in beta, with known issues such as the absence of a hardware encoder and some missing audio filters.

Key enhancements include the addition of the SVT-AV1 encoder for faster non-hardware AV1 encoding and support for AVIF (AV1) images. New video filters, such as a drop shadow filter utilizing the input alpha channel and a vibrance filter that adjusts saturation with sensitivity to current saturation levels, have been added. This is particularly useful for preventing skin tone distortion.

Audio processing sees improvements with the Mid-Side Matrix filter, designed for better stereo sound from specific microphones. The update also supports DJI LRF (MP4) files as proxies. The Playlist menu now features a Columns option, and the update incorporates support for FFmpeg 7.0, dav1d 1.4.2, OpenCV 4.9, and VMAF 3.0.0. Numerous other changes and bug fixes are also included in this release.
